I am 3 days post chemo and amazingly still feeling good. My energy
level is low, as expected, but other than that no issues. I asked the doctor
yesterday if how a person reacts to the chemo is telling to if it is working or
not and he said NO. My counts are
continuing to drop. In fact my white blood cells finally reached zero. It will take some time for them to start coming back, so until then I am
being very careful about washing my hands and wearing a mask and gown whenever
I go visit Londynn. The doctor said that he will make a decision by tomorrow on
whether he will let me go home early. By the sounds of it, if I am still doing
well he may let me go as early as Tuesday! I will still have to come to the
outpatient clinic every day to get my labs drawn and transfusions as needed but
I am OK with that.
We are still patiently waiting to see if my sister will be a match. We should know something by the end of this week. The chances are only 25%, but we are praying and hopeful. If she is not a match, then they will search the national registry. The doc said it can take weeks, to months to find the best match option, so more chemotherapy may be needed between this first round I finished and the transplant. They do that so patients do not relapse as they wait for their transplant.
I had many visitors yesterday, which was awesome. Definitely helps pass the time! My dad flew in yesterday as well as some other family members. I am so happy he is here so that he can help my mom with Londynn. That girl is a handful! My mom says that she now knows why we are meant to have kids when we are young! Bless her though. I don’t know what we would do if she wasn’t here.
I am so thankful for all of the support, prayers, encouragement, and offers to help in any way possible. My best friend and sister set up a Go Fund Me page where people can donate money towards my medical fund. I struggled with the idea, because asking for money is not something Braxton or I have ever thought about doing, no matter what we are going through, but this is something they wanted to do to help take the financial burden off. I can’t even describe the feeling when I see the generosity of those who have already contributed. If I could, I would get down on my knees and thank you all, seriously. You have no idea how incredibly grateful we are. When you go through something like this, it really opens your eyes to all the good there still is. We appreciate you all!
