Day 5

I had my last chemotherapy treatment last night. The whole 5 days actually went by quickly. I am still feeling pretty good! Definitely a little tired and lacking energy (especially today), but feeling well otherwise. Other than the 3-4 units of plasma I received the other day, I haven't had to have any blood transfusions. Those will probably start in the next few days. In fact the nurse said my platelets are right on the border of needing to replenished so I will most likely need a transfusion in the morning. I still have an appetite, and even had enough energy to go ride on a stationary bike they have on the floor here for 20 minutes yesterday afternoon. The people that know me well will appreciate that! Not much can get in the way of me and a cardio workout :-) 3 years ago and going through each chemo round, once my counts recovered and I was strong enough I would be in the gym getting my workouts in. Kind of crazy, but it’s my therapy and makes me happy.

So now it’s just the waiting game. I am stuck here in the hospital as my counts continue to drop, and then SLOWLY recover. The doctors are still open to letting me go home early if things remain uneventful….no fevers, infections and so on. Oh how I am praying for that!

Today is my hubby’s birthday, and he gets to spend it on the road as his football team travels to Albany, GA for their game tomorrow. Guess it’s better than spending it in the hospital! Although I know he rather be here with me. My sister baked Braxton a cake so we “celebrated” in my room last night with a couple of friends. It was fun! I love Braxton so much. Talk about for better or for worse and in sickness and in health. He has been there for me through it all.

The doctors and nurses have been so great here. Not only am I receiving great care, but they have been so cooperative in letting me go spend time with Londynn. Like I had mentioned before, they have a strict protocol and don’t really like to steer away from it. But I have been able to see my sweet baby for 2-3 hours each morning. It’s in no means enough time, but I will take it.

Thank you all!
